GERMANTOWN, TN (WMC) - Trader Joe’s is set to finally open their Germantown location Friday.
WMC Action News 5's Jerica Phillips got an inside look at the store ahead of its grand opening.
“There are other markets around, and we may not be your only stop, but our goal is to be your first stop in your shopping day,” said store captain Noah Stevens.
Stevens spoke to WMC5 about the company brand and its commitment to fresh, non-genetically modified foods.
“It’s our label and a product we stand behind. We tasted, we loved, we think is amazing, the minute we put our name on it, that allows us to lower the price and keep the costs down,” Stevens said.
Stevens also had advice for new shoppers.
“Check out the new item shelf, check out the Instagram corner, see what’s playing on the podcast, go by the demo station and get a treat, get a splash of coffee and then just have great interaction and engagement in a store,” Stevens said.
The store in Germantown is still hiring, but so far has brought on around 70 employees.
“I think it’s $7.50 the minimum wage in the state, we start at $11 and we go up from there,” Stevens said.
Stevens said he looks forward to the opening crowd.
“You’re going to see little nuances and little things where you can tell where you’re shopping,” Stevens said. ‘This is the Germantown Trader Joe’s. You’re going to know it.”
Trader Joe’s opens in Germantown at 2130 Exeter Road on Friday at 8 a.m.
