Mid-South pilot dies in Florida plane crash

HOLT, FL (WMC) - A Memphis man has died in a plane crash in Florida.

The crash happened Friday morning in Holt, Florida.

A witness told police they saw a plane flying low around 10 a.m. and heard its engine shut off and come back on before seeing the plane go down.

The pilot has been identified as Major John Boudreaux.

Boudreaux served in the Air Force as a F-15 fighter pilot.

His daughter Allison released the following statement about her father:

"John had a talent for music, a passion for history and a deep love of flying. He was an aviator in every sense of the word and his dedication to the promotion of aviation and the preservation of aviation history for future generations was inspirational. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him as an exceptional man, full of life and joy in every moment. We welcome your love and memories of his life well-lived.”

The FAA is investigating the cause of the crash.
