Affidavit: Woman says husband attacked her for taking too long to get dressed

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A Memphis man is accused of beating his wife because she took too long to get ready for church.

Police responded to a home around 2 p.m. Saturday near West Raines Road and Ridge Road. Upon arrival, officers found a woman who said her husband, 25-year-old Kevin Pugues, shoved her down, slapped her and strangled her after they argued because she was taking too long getting dressed for church.

According to the affidavit, Pugues admitted to officers that he hit his wife and strangled her. The confession was captured on body camera.

Police arrested Pugues for aggravated assault. Jail records show he’s due in court Tuesday.
