MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - One of the south’s most popular craft breweries is expanding its operations, building a second brewing facility in downtown Memphis.
Wiseacre Brewing Company announced plans Wednesday to build a larger brewing facility in the South Main District to accommodate increasing demand for their beers.
“We reached capacity at our original location on Broad Avenue more than two years ago, just three years after we opened it,” said Wiseacre co-founder Kellan Bartosch. “Our success is ultimately a testament to the people of Memphis – their support made this massive growth possible, and we are so grateful. It’s only fitting that we find another location in our hometown to continue to grow.”
Brothers Davin and Kellan Bartosch, backed by fellow Memphis native Frank Smith, founded Wiseacre in 2013. Over last five years the brewery has become the largest craft brew producer in Tennessee and one of the south’s most popular craft breweries operating in seven states.
Known for its pilsner, Tiny Bomb, Wiseacre won bronze medal at great American Beer Festival in 2014.
Kemmons Wilson Companies is providing funding for the new downtown facility and supporting future strategic growth. Construction set to begin by the end of the year.
