FAYETTE COUNTY, TN (WMC) - A former high school cheerleading coach is facing charges for using team money himself.
A Fayette County grand jury indicted Jimmy Wilson for one count of theft more than $2,500, official misconduct and tampering with government records.
According to the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office, Wilson collected $2,546.93 from his team at Fayette Ware High School in Somerville but failed to turn it over to the school.
During an interview with investigators, Wilson reportedly admitted using bad judgment by mixing cheer funds with his personal funds, mostly in the form of cash. He also said he didn’t provide all the cheer attire ordered by the students and acknowledged owing the school money.
