Tipton County jailers arrested for smuggling drugs

TIPTON COUNTY, TN (WMC) - Two Tipton County corrections officers are facing charges for smuggling drugs into jail.

The arrests followed an undercover investigation at the Criminal Justice Complex.

According to the sheriff’s office, Sgt. Pauline Simmerman, 48, and her husband, 42-year-old Michael Simmerman, were arrested Nov. 28. Pauline Simmerman is accused of accepting the delivery and is charged with bringing contraband into the jail.

Michael Simmerman, the inmate work crew supervisor, is charged with conspiracy to bring contraband into jail.

Both were booked without bond and fired.

Two others were arrested during the sting -- 26-year-old Leticia Delgado and 31-year-old April O’Neal, both of Covington -- and charged with delivery of schedule II narcotics.

Investigators say more arrests and charges are possible.
