Former ‘The Voice’ contestant, Mid-South native stops by Memphis

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A Mid-South star from NBC’s “The Voice” made a stop in the Bluff City this weekend.

WMC5 caught up with Barrett Baber of Marion, Arkansas, who opened for Ashley McBride at Minglewood Hall on Saturday night.

After making it to the top four on "The Voice,” the country music star says the hard work never ends, but it's always nice to be close to home.

"Memphis has played such a magical role in the development of me as a person and I also as an artist and the kind of music that I make, the soulful sound that comes out of me,” Baber said. “I give a lot of credit to Memphis just from growing up right across the river so anytime I get a chance to come back to the city of Memphis, especially to perform music, is a nostalgic thing, but also a moment for me to be really grateful."
