Memphis man arrested in connection with fake towing scam turned shooting

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis police arrested Quinton Johnson in connection with a fake towing scam which turned into a shooting.

According to an affidavit, the 20-year-old shot a woman in her leg and calf.

On December 4, around 12:15 p.m., the victim was inside her Lost Oak Place residence when she heard a knock at the door.

She went to answer the door and asked, “Who is it?”

The person outside the door said, “Your car is being towed away.”

The woman opened the door and was met by two unknown, masked men.

When she realized the men were armed, she yelled for her boyfriend and cousin.

The two masked men began shooting at them and wounded the victim. She was transported to Regional One.

Johnson has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm.
