MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - After a decade as the superintendent of Shelby County Schools, Dorsey Hopson sat in his last board meeting Tuesday night.
Hopson said he’s looking forward to some rest and relaxation, including time with his family.
The superintendent says he's proud of the work he's done but had some words of advice for whoever takes the job next.
"They’re going to walk into a much better situation than I walked into,” Hopson said. “They're going to find some great teachers and some great leaders and a great community. I look forward to being a cheerleader from the sideline and seeing Shelby County School continue to do better."
The board did not vote on an interim superintendent at the meeting.
They expect to have their choice vetted and voted at the meeting next Tuesday night.
