MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A Memphis father joined a national group of dads hosting a Hot Wheels toy drive.

Using Twitter, the fathers created an online parenting community.

Calling themselves #PatFrat, the guys organized a charitable initiative with family, friends, schools and local businesses to collect Hot Wheels for their “Little Wheels, Big Hearts” campaign.

“This is what #LittleWheelsBigHearts is all about,” said Dale Grant, a dad known by his Twitter handle @TwinzerDad. “People coming together to spread love and kindness.”

The goal was to collect 2,000 cars for the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve Toys for Tots. Turns out the group collected more than 5,000 toy cars.

“My personal goal was 500 cars but we will far exceed our nationwide goal,” said participating Memphis dad Shaun Smith. “We’ve also successfully figured out a way for our social media contacts over-seas to donate through an Amazon wish list.”

A marine will pick up some of the Hot Wheels Friday at Pinnacle Financial Partners in Germantown.

If you’d like to participate, check out their Amazon wish list online.
