Former Tiger wanted for aggravated assault

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Shelby County deputies are asking for help finding a former University of Memphis basketball player.

Jimario Rivers, 23, is wanted for aggravated assault. According to the sheriff’s office, Rivers attacked his girlfriend at Sprouts on Highway 64.

Investigators said Rivers broke his girlfriend’s cellphone and pulled her hair after an argument. The woman told police the last thing she remembers is waking up on the ground.

Officers took statements from the woman at Saint Francis Hospital, where they said they saw injuries to her face.

Court records show Rivers was charged Dec. 28 and an arrest warrant was issued the same day.

Rivers, a native of Clarksville, Tennessee, played for the Tigers from 2016 to 2018.
