Mother robbed at gunpoint at gas station

COLLIERVILLE, TN (WMC) - Collierville police are looking for a group of robbery suspects in connection to two robberies in the area.

Police say the group robbed three people after 6 p.m. on Sunday.

The first two victims were robbed at Orchard Apartments when they said a group of five African American males demanded their wallets and purses.

The victims told police three of the men had handguns.

Police say the suspects fled the scene and robbed another victim at the Shell Station on Byhalia Road and Winchester Road.

It all happened in a matter of seconds.

“I kept waiting to feel something hit my back and as long as it was me that’s all I cared,” said Jill Pitcher. “I just wanted them to be shielded and protected and safe”

Pitcher and her two kids stopped at the Shell gas station Sunday night around 6:30 p.m.

Moments later, a car pulled up beside her.

“The way they backed up, the speed,” Pitcher said. “They were crooked. They were taking up two spots. It just caught my attention and as I look at them I see them all look at me.”

Pitcher said she felt an uneasy feeling almost instantly.

"The second car comes up right behind me and blocks me in back here,” Pitcher said.

According to Pitcher, two cars blocked her in and a man then got out.

“Next thing I knew, I had my purse on my shoulder and I just felt a huge jerk,” Pitcher said. “I turn around and see him running back to the car and whoever was in the passenger side of the car leans out the window and points his gun at me and told me not to look.”

Collierville police are now searching for those suspects who they say robbed two other people earlier that night.

The victims were pulling up to the Addison Apartments when five men, three of which had guns, took their wallets and purses.

“You still just have to be so aware of everyone around you, the vehicles around you,” Pitcher said. “If you get that gut feeling, listen. Go to a different store. It’s not worth it.”

The group was in a stolen black BMW with Tennessee tag 4J7-6W6, and a silver Mazda with Tennessee tag 2L2-4E6.
