MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis police are investigating a shooting on Highway 385 near Ridgeway.
Officials said one person was hit and taken to Regional One in critical condition near 9 p.m. Tuesday.
It’s unclear what led up to the shooting, but it’s becoming a growing problem on Shelby County roads
Witnesses said they heard multiple shots that sounded like a semi-automatic handgun.
Back in November, another highway shooting happened close to the same location on Bill Morris Parkway and Ridgeway. A shooting victim later showed up to a local hospital.
Back in October 2018, WMC investigators learned that Memphis police responded to four shootings that injured five people along the interstates in a matter of weeks.
At that point, MPD director Mike Rallings called on the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Shelby County Sheriff’s Office to increase patrols on the interstate.
There is no word on any suspects at this time.
