MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The Mississippi River is set to crest Thursday morning at 31.8 feet.
Wednesday afternoon, the river reached 31.6 feet deep.
That’s a little more than two feet away from the river’s flooded stage, which is 34 feet.
In 2018, Memphis received 64.15 inches of rain, putting us at 10.47 inches above average. While that didn’t break any records, it was enough to cause the river to rise.
The river’s high water levels have already started to impact the surrounding areas.
The gate on the Arkansas side of Big River Crossing is now closed, restricting access to the Big River Trails.
