MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The Mississippi River reached its crest point after days of rising water.
The river crested at 31.8 feet around 2 a.m. Thursday.
That's below the flood stage of 34 feet, meaning areas right along the river were the ones seeing the effects of the crest.
Eastern Arkansas saw some of the effects too, with the gates of Big River Crossing in West Memphis being closed for days.
In 2018, more than 64 inches of rain fell in Memphis--about 10.5 inches above average.
