MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - An employee at the UPS Customer Center in Memphis is facing charges after more than $24,000 worth of shipments went missing last month.

According to a police affidavit, employee Sean Ables, 29, handled the shipments on Christmas Eve. Inside was $24,352.67 worth of cash and coins.

Four days later, the center’s security supervisor launched an investigation and identified Ables as a “target of interest.” On Jan. 7, the security supervisor interviewed Ables who confirmed he handled the shipments but wouldn’t say what happened to them.

According to the affidavit, Ables later returned $24,000 in cash and brought the remainder back hours later along with a statement. He was arrested and taken to jail for theft.
