MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Police are investigating a robbery and an attempted robbery reported just minutes apart from the same location near the University of Memphis.
The school issued an alert early Thursday morning warning students, faculty and staff about the crimes.
University police said a woman reported that she was approached around 11 p.m. Wednesday by three men, one armed with a handgun, near the intersection of Mynders Avenue and Brister Street.
A few minutes later, Memphis Police Department were called by a man who reported men matching the descriptions had attempted to rob him near the same intersection.
The victim said there was a fourth man involved.
The suspects were last seen wearing dark clothing and getting into a white sedan.
No one was hurt, but university police are using this to remind students and staff they can sign up for emergency alerts through LiveSafe app and contact a Tiger program which provides on-campus escorts.
