LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT) - Lawmakers and the public joined together to see Governor Hutchinson sworn in for his second term and deliver his State of the State address for the 92nd General Assembly.
Governor Hutchinson talked about the history of becoming Governor along with what he envisions for the future.
This vision is to include tax cuts and an increase in teacher pay.
“We have it all here," Hutchinson said. "That’s why we work hard to be competitive in our tax rates. To compete for businesses and industries located in this state. To build a technology sector, to expand tourism and to improve access to the arts and to education.”
Hutchinson said because of these opportunities, the administration has moved more than 65,000 Arkansans out of poverty and into work.
“There are more jobs and people are making more money.” Hutchinson said.
Hutchinson said fewer Arkansans are on Medicaid and relying less on benefits because of opportunity.
Hutchinson also talked about a reformed child welfare system and reduced prison population.
