NASHVILLE, TN (WMC) - It’s inauguration day for Tennessee Governor-elect Bill Lee.
Following a morning prayer breakfast, Governor-elect Lee will make his way to War Memorial Auditorium, which is where he will be sworn in.
They usually have this ceremony outside on the plaza, but because of the rain organizers decided to move it indoors today.
When he’s sworn in by Tennessee’s Chief Justice, Lee will become the state’s 50th governor.
He says it’s an honor, a privilege and humbling to become governor.
Lee is a businessman, and he says that experience will help him as governor.
“Its quite a change of life, but interestingly after the election, the transitioning process is very much a lot of the same type of things you do in business. So we are picking a cabinet and senior positions and you select a leadership team. The difference is you do it in 75 days instead in over a period of time,” Lee said.
He also says his priorities will be education, safety and jobs.
He will speak more about those during his inaugural address.
Outgoing Governor Bill Haslam is also expected to give his final remarks as governor during the ceremony.
The inauguration ceremony starts at 11 with the swearing in ceremony beginning at noon.
WMC Action News 5′s Brandon Richard will have more from the inauguration festivities throughout the day.
