Man arrested in internet stalking case
A St. Francis County man was arrested this week on suspicion of internet stalking of a child.

ST. FRANCIS COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A man was arrested after police say he tried to meet a 13-year-old for sex.

However, authorities say the arrest was part of an investigation into suspected online child predators in the area.

Robert “Bob” Shaw of Colt was arrested Jan. 15 on suspicion of internet stalking of a child, purpose to deliver a schedule IV controlled substance and unlawful use of a communication device after the investigation.

According to a post on the First Judicial District Drug Task Force Facebook page, Shaw messaged what he believed as a 13-year-old girl for sex. Police allege Shaw sent a sexually graphic photo of himself and said he could perform sex acts on the child.

“Shaw discussed that he would like to smoke marijuana with the child and would meet her in Cross County to take her to his house in St. Francis County for an evening of sex and drugs,” officials said in the post. “After sending explicit messages to the child all day, Shaw stated that he did not know the child well enough to have sex, but still wanted to smoke marijuana with the child.”

Police also allege Shaw tried to offer the child Alprazolam, saying he had “3 blue footballs” on him, the post noted.

Authorities later arrested Shaw and found the Alprazolam in Shaw’s vehicle, officials said in the post.

A $25,000 bond was set for Shaw during a probable cause hearing.
