Memphis City Council approves new South Memphis SkyCop camera

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The Memphis City Council has approved a new SkyCop camera for South Memphis.

The camera is being placed at the new Cash Saver location on Third Street.

SkyCop cameras are monitored by Memphis police 24 hours a day inside the Real Time Crime Center.

Do SkyCop cameras actually reduce crime?

This new camera is one of more than 2,000 SkyCop cameras monitoring Memphis. Each camera costs about $5,500.
