MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Shelby County announced a $19 million grant that will go to residents struggling to pay their utility bill.
The grant will go to those in the "Keep the Lights On" program.
Residents can apply to receive up to $650 in help, based on family income and household size.
You do not need a cut off notice to qualify for the program.
“It is far too easy for a family to fall behind on their utility bill,” Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris said. “The aim of this program is to alleviate the stress on families of keeping their homes lit and heated before they receive a cut-off notice.”
You can apply for an appointment by calling 901-222-4299 or by clicking here to download the form.
