Mt. Zion Baptist Church partners with Memphis District Association to help government employees

Gov't workers given hot meal, gift cards

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Government employees who are still waiting on back pay, received a little help from a local church Wednesday.

Mt. Zion Baptist Church on South Parkway handed out hot meals and gift cards to families in need.

In addition to funds and food, the church also prayed with those impacted by the shutdown.

"How important it is to just continue as a community of believers to help those who are going through tough times," said Reverend Dr. Eric Winston.

Memphis District Association and church members helped provide the meals and and gift cards.

The church said if the government shuts down again, they will help however they can.
