Hackenberg apparent starter as Memphis Express season kicks off

Hackenberg appears to land starting gig with Express

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - In less than one week, the New Memphis Express will kick off its Inaugural season in the Alliance of American Football at Birmingham against the Iron.

The Express held its first practice for game week at the Liberty Bowl on Monday after breaking its month-long training camp at San Antonio.

Who will quarterback the Express in game one? Right now, it looks like former Penn State Star Christian Hackenberg.

The 6′4″, 228 pounder was an NFL Second Round pick of the New York Jets in 2016. So, just how good is this Express Team?

“Come out and see, know what I mean?” Hackenberg said. “I’m really confident in everyone here. We put in a lot of work in a short period of time. We got to know each other really well. We got to know each other fast. This whole league top to bottom has a bunch of talent.”

Kickoff for the Express at Birmigham is 3 p.m. next Sunday, February 10. You can see It on NFL Network.
