Man arrested over fatal shooting at Super Bowl party

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - One person is dead and another injured after a shooting near Graceland.

Memphis Police Department is investigating the shooting that happened just before 2 a.m. Monday at Favell Drive and Dolan Drive.

Family on the scene identifies the deceased victim as a 28-year-old father of seven Issacca Powell.

A woman was also taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition.

Monday night, MPD arrested Calvin Wilkins in connection to the shooting.

Wilkins is charged with first-degree murder, using a firearm to commit a felony, attempted murder, possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver, and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.

Court documents show Wilkins was hosting a Super Bowl party at his home when he got upset over his wife making a plate of food for someone.

That’s when many of the guests left the party.

A witness said they got a phone call from Wilkins where they could hear the gunshots.

The affidavit identified Powell as Wilkins' step brother.
