MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Raj Subramaniam will take over as President and Chief Operating Officer of FedEx Corporation in March.
He was just promoted to President and CEO of FedEx Express two months ago.
Subramaniam has a long history at FedEx, joining the company's marketing team in Memphis in 1991.
From there, he moved to Hong Kong to lead marketing for the Asia-Pacific region.
In 2003, he was promoted to president of FedEx Express in Canada.
In 2006, he returned to the United States to serve as senior vice president of marketing and communications.
FedEx credits Subramaniam with several major developments in the company.
Those developments include the expansion of FedEx's global product portfolio, growth of the FedEx Retail footprint, enhancing customer service, and the digital transformation of FedEx services.
Subramaniam began his higher education in chemical engineering, before earning his Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
According to his company biography, Subramaniam believes his global perspective influences his work within FedEx and contributes to the company's success creating worldwide opportunities for communities.
FedEx stock has dropped since the announcement.
Around the same time, Fortune Magazine had also recognized FedEx as one of the 100 Best Companies to Work for in 2019.
