Heavy rain today, wet week ahead

A weather system will move into the Mid-South and give us a chance for rain today. Although a spotty shower is possible this morning, most of the area will be dry for the morning commute.

Rain will arrive by noon and widespread rain will continue through late tonight and into tomorrow morning. It will be a cool day with morning temperatures in the 30s and highs this afternoon in the lower 40s. We will be in the lower 40s early tonight, but temperatures will gradually increase overnight.

TODAY: Cloudy. 90%. Winds: NE 10-15 mph. High: 44.

TONIGHT: Cloudy. 90%. Winds: E 5-15 mph. Low: 42.

REST OF THE WEEK: Rainfall totals will be around 2 inches for Tuesday and Wednesday. The front will move south on Thursday, which will give us some time to dry out. Rain will move back in overnight Thursday into Friday. Friday will be a wet day with on and off rain. Highs will be in the upper 50s Wednesday and lower 50s Thursday. Temperatures will go back up to near 60 degrees Friday.

WEEKEND: Saturday will also be soggy with a chance for a few strong thunderstorms. Gusty winds will be the primary concern. An additional 2-4 inches of rain could fall Friday and Saturday. Temperatures will jump into the upper 60s Saturday and then drop to the 50s Sunday. We should see the rain move totally east of our area by early Sunday.
