MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A 22-year-old Memphis man is facing indictments for kidnapping and murder.
Prosecutors say Justin Mays shot and killed 24-year-old Pierre Cheer Nov. 24, 2017. Cheer’s girlfriend had gone to Mays’ apartment prior to the shooting for a prearranged meeting. She then called Cheer and said Mays was being aggressive and wouldn’t let her leave.
According to the district attorney general’s office, Cheer went to Mays’ apartment and the two argued. Cheer saw Mays with a gun and said, “You’re gonna have to shoot me because I ain’t leaving without her.”
Prosecutors say Mays shot Cheer in the head, killing him.
He is being held in the Shelby County Jail without bond.
