HARDEMAN, TN (WMC) - TBI Special Agents are working with the Hardeman County Sheriff’s Office on an apparent home invasion in which one male was killed and one female was seriously injured.
The deceased man has been identified as 31-year-old Deon Turner.
The woman’s identity has not yet been released.
"In this neighborhood it's pretty shocking cause you just don't hear about that out this way much," said Phillip Sparks, neighbor.
Neighbor Phillip Sparks says he knew something was wrong when he was headed to work early Friday morning and he saw a helicopter landing at this church.
"I thought they was hunting somebody," said Sparks.
Instead, the helicopter showed up after a deadly shooting at a trailer.
"I'm just trying to get over the shock of his not being here," said Venita Matthews, Turner's aunt.
Venita Matthews lived next door to her nephew, Deon, who was shot and killed. His girlfriend was seriously injured.
"We didn't hear nothing," said Matthews.
Matthews and her friend didn't find out what had happened until investigators showed up. It is not clear who called them.
What Matthews does know is that she will miss her nephew, a father of three children.
"He was really outgoing. He worked everyday. Whatever his kids needed, he got it," said Matthews.
Matthews says her nephew also helped her out.
"He just bought me a well to get my water back on and he helped me get my hot water heater," said Matthews.
Matthews just wants whoever did it caught.
Details of the incident have not been released.
This is an ongoing investigation.
