KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Students and visitors to the University of Tennessee are being greeted with a spruced up campus. There is a new pedestrian bridge across Phillip Fulmer Way. The campus also has new landscaping and a brick wall. The changes come as part of nearly $1 billion in construction projects.
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Organizers of regular protests at the North Carolina Legislature are being joined by NAACP leaders in other states including Tennessee to launch a week of demonstrations. About 900 people were arrested at protests during the 2013 legislative session in North Carolina.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The CEO of bankrupt Young Oil will spend 33 months in prison for scamming investors. Anthony L. Young of Knob Lick pleaded guilty in March to defrauding investors in Kentucky and Tennessee. Young was sentenced today in Louisville.
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) - Sam Slaughter homered twice and drove in six runs to help Nashville, Tennessee, beat Canada 12-9 in a consolation game at the Little League World Series. Both teams Little League World Series' runs came to an end, as they were eliminated from contention last Saturday.
