Allie Herrera joined the WMC Action News 5 team July of 2018 as a reporter/multimedia journalist. She’s excited to live in part of the country she’s never explored before.

Allie graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Spanish. She also minored in Nutrition.

Allie’s family is originally from Lima, Peru. She was born in Lima and moved to the United States when she was about 6 years old. It wasn’t until 2018 that Allie had the chance to go back to Peru and visit places from her childhood. Allie’s bilingual so please say hola if you see her!

Allie originally wanted to study kinesiology but quickly realized math and science were not her strengths. She found her passion in journalism at URI and started writing for the school newspaper. From then on, she interned at several television stations including WJAR, WTNH and FiOS1 News in New York.

Before moving to Memphis, Allie worked at the NBC affiliate in Rhinelander, Wisconsin for about two years. There she worked as a multimedia journalist, fill-in anchor and occasional producer.

Allie can’t wait to share your stories and looks forward to meeting as many people as she can. You’ll likely see Allie working out along Riverside Drive or inside a CrossFit gym. She’s a Level 1 CrossFit Coach at CrossFit Blue Blood in Olive Branch.
