21-year-old Austin Agee committed suicide last week, just before police could question him again about the disappearance of Bartlett model Lisa Davis.

Agee family spokesman Chris Thomas said "They and the Davis family are suffering through some tremendous grief right now."

Agee left behind a note, which led police to Davis' body in a nearby field.

"Everybody I've talked to is baffled by it," said Thomas. "It's just so unlike him."

According to the Shelby County medical examiner, Davis was shot more than once and suffered blunt force injuries to the head.

Bartlett Police initially reported she was killed by a single gunshot wound.

"I would think for sure that that's heightened their grief...definitely," Thomas said.

In a brief statement released last week, the Davis family said, "To the Agee family - our heartfelt sympathy goes out to you."

Now, Austin Agee's father plans to reach out to them, Thomas told Action News 5.

"He's trying to get in touch with Lisa Davis' father to talk to him."

Thomas says he's confident the Davis family harbors no ill will toward the Agee family over what Austin Agee did. "You know, this was a great young man who had a short period in his life that was not good."

But it's that brief period for which he will likely always be remembered.
