MARKS, Mississippi (WMC-TV) - Three young children died in an early morning house fire Saturday in Downtown Marks.

11 people were inside when the fire started.

Family members tried to rescue the children, but were blocked by heavy smoke and flames.

When their uncle saw smoke billowing out of the children's bedroom, he knocked the air conditioning unit out of the window and tried to reach in, but it was too late.

"I'm truly going to miss them, and I'm always going to hold them in my heart," said Steve James, the children's uncle.

A single photograph of one of the children is all that's left.

"Only me and God knows how I feel...can't bring them back," said Tammie Moore, the children's mother.

The young mother is devastated over the loss of two-year-old Jacorey Autman, one-year-old Adrianna Autman and three-month-old Alicia Autman.

"They was sweet, kind. My heart, my joy...my everything. It hurts so bad," said Moore.

Firefighters from Marks and nearby Crowder helped knock down the blaze.

Officials say it could take investigators up to a month to determine the cause of the fire.
