MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - One person was killed, and another critically wounded, in a shooting Monday morning at the Peppertree Apartments in south Memphis.

According to police, the shooting happened inside a unit at the complex around 9:00 a.m. Monday. Memphis police spokesperson Monique Martin said a man and a woman were inside the apartment when the suspect forced his way inside.

As shots rang out, the female victim, Angela Greer, called 911.

"There was commotion heard on the dispatch tape," Martin said.

Greer later died at the scene. The male victim was transported to The MED in critical condition.

According to her sister, Greer recently fired an order of protection against the suspect, after recently giving birth to his son.

"Just had a newborn," Greer's cousin, Shan Richardson, added.  "Ain't even one year old yet."

Relatives said Greer and the suspect had been in a relationship for nearly four years.

Investigators said an intense manhunt for the suspect was underway.
