McCray is a nurse, and the first African- American to run for the position of mayor in Horn Lake or DeSoto County. She says its important to bring in new businesses and continue the progress.

"I want to keep it moving," she said. "The population is growing, but the development of Horn Lake is really not growing as much as it should."

In the end, they both say they care deeply for the city and its people.

"We're a city that's recognized and were not gonna slow down," Baker said. "I'm here to represent every citizen of this city."

"Not just a black mayor - I want to be a mayor for all the people of Horn Lake," McCray said.
