CRITTENDEN COUNTY, AR (WMC-TV) - High winds may to be blame for a deadly boating accident at a Mid-South lake.

A Crittenden County Sheriff's Department spokesperson said three people were in a boat when it capsized in the murky waters of Horseshoe Lake Friday morning.

Two of the boat's occupants managed to swim to safety, but the third passenger drowned. Search teams located his body just before 1:00 p.m.

The man's identity has not been released, but authorities say he is from the area of Blytheville, Arkansas.

Neighbor Ray Bratton has lived along Horseshoe Lake for nearly 20 years.

"It puts an awareness on us who live over here or enjoy this place on the weekends. We need to be very cautious."

High winds and choppy waters are likely to blame for Friday's tragedy.

"Obviously, it can get very rough out there quickly, especially with winds and storms," Bratton said.

Officials are still working to determined exactly what caused the accident.
