MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Action News 5 was there when two accused thieves landed in the backseat of a cruiser, all thanks to Dolores Luna and her neighbors.

Thursday, they watched two men getaway in a brown pick-up truck after stealing the refrigerator and other large appliances an the empty house across the street.

Friday, with a yard sale in full swing, they watched the same truck return to the same house.  This time, two men took two window air-conditioning units.

"They just like nothing opened the door and started taking the air conditioners out," Luna said.

Neighbors called police with information, and within moments, undercover units were following the brown truck.  On Hilldale, the two men bailed, leaving the air conditioners behind, jumping into a ditch and running away.

Police officers and K-9 units quickly caught up to the suspects and took them into custody.

"No officers were injured," Memphis Police Department Colonel Jeff Clark said. "No suspects were injured. The merchandize has been recovered. The suspects are in custody. Can't ask for more than that."

Investigators said the two men likely face charges in a string of neighborhood burglaries.
