Salvation Army hides 6,000 Easter eggs at Fairgrounds

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC-TV) - Hundreds of Mid-South children celebrated Easter a day early during the Salvation Army's Grand Easter Egg Hunt Saturday.

The Salvation Army hid more than 6,000 eggs on a plot of land at the Fairgrounds on East Parkway. The property is the future site of the Kroc Center, a 100,000 square foot Salvation Army facility.

More than 250 egg hunters combed the grass for hidden treasures.

"What we're trying to do is to start to build relationships within the community the surrounding area, as we hope to hopefully break ground soon on the Joan and Ray Kroc center," said Major Mark Woodcock with the Salvation Army.

The guest list was made up of children from surrounding neighborhoods and kids who participate in various Salvation Army programs.
