MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Part of repairing the economy is President Barack Obama's economic stimulus plan, and there is money available to people in the Mid-South.

After a barrage of public information requests about how people can apply for stimulus money, a new website has been set up to help guide the way.

The website is a joint venture between the city and Shelby County to help people find out what funds they're eligible to receive, and to direct them to the proper agencies to get the money.

From the working to the unemployed the new website answers the most frequently asked questions.

You can also register to get updates as new information comes in.  Individuals can find which agencies to contact on everything from tax credits to college grants to health insurance assistance.  Businesses can find links to stimulus grants and competitive contracts.

"The mayor wanted to make sure that people would have that information and be directed to the most appropriate agency to get that information and so our website would direct you to the Department of Labor or Department of Education, if you need more information," Memphis Legislative Liaison Tajaun Stout-Mitchell said.

And there's a warning for seniors:  Do not let anyone tell you that you have to apply for your $250 stimulus bonus.  It will come in your social security check automatically.
