Boarding house fire suspected as arson

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Memphis firefighters continue to investigate whether a fire at a Linden Avenue boarding house was intentionally set.

Fire crews were called to the eleven-hundred block of Linden just after midnight Tuesday night.

When they arrived, flames could be seen coming from the second floor.

Six of the seven people living there were accounted for. Those people accuse a housemate of igniting flames, then fleeing the scene.

Division Chief Henry Posey of the Memphis Fire Department told Action News Five, "The one individual we're looking for is supposedly the one that started the fire.  We got reports from some of the occupants that he may have jumped out of the window after the fire got going."

Memphis Police continue to search for that resident.

The Red Cross is assisting those people who were displaced.
