MUNFORD, TN (WMC-TV) - A road sign in Munford pretty much says it all: hard times, dead end.

And that's just what employees at several Covington industries feel they've reached after losing their jobs.

"They called me in on October third and told me they didn't need me no more...the company was down sizing," said former Quebecor employee Kenny Campbell.

Campbell worked for Quebecor for 16 years and is still unemployed.  Now, his 350 colleagues are also looking for work, after the printing plant announced it would close this summer.

"People don't have the money -- they've got to think about first feeding and clothing their children," said Lee Johnston of the Covington-Tipton County Chamber of Commerce.

Tipton County's above the state and national average, making it hard for residents in the area to find jobs.

"Its something out there if its only cutting grass, raking leaves - if a person wants to make a dollar, they can make it," Campbell continued.

"You might want to think about getting an education or different training so you're prepared for something else," Johnson added.

Places like Tennessee Career Center are out there to help.  In addition to filing unemployment claims, they also help clients look for jobs online and create or update their resumes

"Keep you head up, pray about it...it's going to get better," Campbell said.

But during these tough financial times, even Kenny Campbell is having trouble following his own advice.
