MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A man wanted for kidnapping was captured early Thursday morning after a nine hour manhunt.

Police caught up with 76-year-old suspect Holsey Jones after a search that took them from Memphis to Fayette County.

Officials said the incident started around 3:00pm Wednesday near the intersection of Marble and Merchant. Police said Jones, 47-year-old DeWayne Moore, and a woman in her late 40's were involved in a domestic dispute inside a car at that location as they returned from paying an MLGW bill.

The woman told police Jones fired shots. One grazed her hand, while at least one other hit Moore. The woman told police she jumped out of the vehicle, and believed Moore was dead.

Around midnight, Fayette County deputies received a call from resident Ray Chears about a suspicious car on Highway 76 in Somerville.

When they checked it out, they found Jones in the front seat, and Moore dead in the backseat.

"The police kept on telling him, 'Open the door!  Roll your glass down,'" Chears said. "He never would do it."

Chears knows Jones, and grew up less than five miles away from him.

"It didn't shock me too much," Chears said. "He was the type of fella - a good fella - but sometimes you can push a fella too far."

Memphis police say Jones has not yet been charged, and they are still investigating what happened.
