MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A four-year-old boy was reunited with family members Friday morning after an AMBER Alert was issued when he was kidnapped.

Exclusive video from Action News 5 showed the reunion between Demareo Hayes, 4, and his family, hours after his non-custodial father took the boy from his front yard.

"He came and snatched him and put him in the car," Demareo's mother, Veronica Hayes, said.

Police issued an AMBER Alert, and the child was returned hours later.

"I got a call from the paternal grandmother, who I had asked for assistance earlier in trying to contact her son," said Memphis Police Major Ray Hopkins. "She called me back and said she had located the child."

But suspect Mareo Bradshaw, the woman's son, was nowhere to be found. Veronica Hayes said she never feared Bradshaw would hurt his son, and said Demareo is not afraid of his father.

But she is - Hayes claims Bradshaw has repeatedly threatened her and her fiance. The most recent threat came last Sunday.

"He told me me and my fiance wasn't going to make it out alive, and he said I'll never see my son again," she said.

Hayes claims after a court ordered Bradshaw to pay child support, he shot at her and her fiance.  Bullet holes still line Hayes' car.

Then, Hayes obtained a restraining order against Bradshaw.  Friday, Hayes hoped he would be captured soon.

"I really wish they would lock him up and keep him locked up," she said.
