OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Jevan Snead threw for three touchdowns and directed six consecutive touchdown drives Saturday to lead the Blue team over the Red 55-28 in the Mississippi spring game, known as the Grove Bowl.
Snead finished 11 of 15 for 254 yards with touchdown strikes of 12, 20 and 70 yards. Shay Hodge, Dexter McClusker and Markeith Summers each had a touchdown catch for the Blue team, made up of mostly starting players.
The Blue team finished with 524 yards of total offense.
The scrimmage featured a variation of traditional rules. The Red team was awarded seven points each quarter. Several skill position players, including McClusker and Snead, wore "no contact" jerseys.
Devin Thomas led all rushers with 68 yards, including a 53-yard touchdown run in the second period for the Blue. Jacarious Lucas had second half touchdown catches of 19 and 50 yards from reserve quarterbacks Billy Tapp and Nathan Stanley, respectively.
