MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Police have charged an assistant principal at a Melrose High School for sexual exploitation of a minor.

It all started when police say 18-year-old Deandra Woodall used his cell phone to shoot a 16-year-old boy have sex with a 15-year-old girl, without her knowledge.

He was caught showing off the video in class before Melrose High School Assistant Principal Terence Bobo confiscated the phone.

A police affidavit says Bobo downloaded the video to his computer at school and showed the video to others at school. He also failed to immediately notify police and parents after discovering the video.

Monday night, two neighbors quickly came to Bobo's defense.

"I think he just got caught up," says Littleranda Hunt.  "Because he ain't that kind of person," she adds.

They cannot believe Bobo could learn of a sex video involving students without telling their parents or police.

"I think he would have talked to the parents, eventually," says Hunt.

Bobo is charged with Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, Tampering with Evidence, and Failure to Properly Report the Incident.

"But I don't think it really intended to be what happened," says neighbor Cora Cole.  "But I really don't know the situation at all," she adds.

Police say the situation at Melrose is simple.  The student should have never taped a sex act involving a minor, and the school's assistant principal should have reported it.

MCS refuses to comment on a pending investigation.  Bobo did not answer our knocks on his front door.
