Memphis woman pleads guilty in firefighter death

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A Memphis woman has pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide in the death of an off-duty firefighter.

The state prosecutor's office in Memphis says 46-year-old Dolly Cox also pleaded guilty Monday to aggravated assault and was sentenced to just over seven years in prison. Cox is expected to ask for probation, however, at a court hearing on May 28.

Authorities say Cox was driving drunk when her car swerved off a highway at Memphis in November 2007 and struck two off-duty firefighters who were sitting on parked motorcycles in an emergency lane.

Janeal Williams was killed and companion Eddie Rone was critically hurt.
