MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Blue strobes lit up the early morning Tuesday in Binghamton as police brought a car chase to a dramatic end.  Action News Five was the only crew on the scene moments after a Honda Civic taken in a carjacking crashed into a parked car.

"It startled me and I popped up," recalls witness Katrina Smith.

She heard the collision from her bed.  More incredible, Smith says, were the suspects police took into custody: An 18 year-old man and three young girls, two of them 14, and another just 12!

"I seen them when they handcuffed her and was putting her in the car," recalls Smith.  "And then another one walking from this way and put her in the car," she describes.

Police say their night began with a violent carjacking at the corner of Joel and Par in Frayser.  The victim told police she was ambushed at her car, then hit in the head with a tire tool.  She says the suspects took her keys before taking her car.

Officers spotted it heading southbound on Danny Thomas.  They began pursuing as it ran a red-light.  They eventually caught up to the car in Katrina Smith's yard.

"You know, they should have been in bed asleep," she says of the young girls.

She says the girls were bound to get into some kind of trouble being out so late.

Memphis Police say charges are pending in this case.  The carjacking victim was not seriously injured.
