Vols Pearl Encourages Top Forward to Check Draft Status

Tennessee Basketball Coach Bruce Pearl also riding in the Big Orange Caravan in Memphis Tuesday.

Pearl says getting into Memphis to find players to come to Knoxville is always a top priority..

He also says he'll encourage players if they feel they can take the Next Step Early, like Junior Tyler Smith, who's put his name in the hat for the NBA Draft.

Pearl says Smith doesn't want to play in Europe...and the only way he'll leave school early is if he's a First Round Pick.

Pearl says he wants Smith to check his status, take his workouts. That way he'll have a clear picture of what his future will be if he stays or goes.

Pearl says Memphian J.P. Prince is recovering well from recent Shoulder surgery.

He says Prince may be back on the court 3-weeks earlier than planned.

Prince, a 6'7" Wing from White Station, will be a Senior for the Vols this season.

He averaged 10 points and 4-rebounds a game last year.
