More evidence that Memphis City government is falling apart. I know right now you're wondering which of several situations I could be talking about. It's one that incensed me the most this week. A 14-year old girl says she's been raped. The police detectives call to take her to the Memphis Rape Crisis Center and the girl and her family are told that she can't get an appointment for more than two weeks.

Our Rape Crisis Center serves a regional population, but it has the misfortune of being managed and operated by Memphis City Government. Some bureaucrat in the City of Memphis fired many of the nurses who worked at the center because they were not Memphis residents. This is ridiculous.

Do you think that 14-year-old girl who needed testing and counseling cared whether the nurse was a Memphis resident? The Shelby County District Attorney brought this problem to the attention of Memphis City officials back in February. He says he did not even get the courtesy of a reply to his written letter.

No one deserves to be treated like the City of Memphis has treated this girl and her family.

That's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email or call 800-465-1210.
