SEARCY, AR (WMC-TV) - Tuesday afternoon, friends and co-workers said goodbye to a Bartlett woman found shot to death late last week.

Authorities believe Micah Pate was shot to death by her husband, Thomas, who has been charged with second degree murder.

The gym where Micah Pate played high school basketball was the location of her funeral. Hundreds of friends, co-workers and family filled it, gathering to remember the 26-year-old whose life ended in what the family is calling a tragic shooting at the hands of her husband.

Earlier, Pate's older brother, Casey Rine, spoke to Action News 5 about his sister.

"They told me my whole life she looked up to me and wanted to be like me," he said. "But in all actuality, I loved her and I looked to her she was my little sister. I loved her death."

Pate's father spoke of the love expressed by many people in the wake of her death.

"Casey tells me through FaceBook there have been over 5,000 people on prayer lists and of other prayer lists that have gone around," he said. "Friends in this community have reached out to touch us."

Current and former co-workers from Pate's employer, Memphis OB/GYN, traveled for hours to attend the funeral, chartering a bus to Searcy.

"Micah is in a much better place right now, even though we'd love to have her with us for many years to come," co-worker Dr. Elizabeth Riseling said. "We have to treasure our memories."

Memories like her generosity.

"She would bring in homemade bread, that she made on the weekends and bring it to everybody," former co-worker Cathy Crumley said.

One of the toughest parts about Pate's death, co-workers said, is that police say it came at the hands of her husband, Thomas Pate.

That left many questions for her co-workers.

"She loved her husband," Crumley said.  "She always talked about Thomas this, Thomas, that.  All the things she was doing for Thomas."

Her current co-workers say she was a very private person, who didn't talk much about her relationship with her husband.

"Everyone has thoughts of what could have happened, and what did happen, and could we have stopped it, the numerous things that go through people's heads. But we know there is nothing we could have done," Riseling said.

So they're doing all they can now to be there for her family, and showing them just how loved Micah Pate was.
